These award winning, design-centric products are true examples of “disruption” in a mature product space. Modern aesthetics with museum-worthy lines make the products at home on the mantle as easily as in the bedroom.
Working with Jimmyjane since 2002, Pinion provided engineering and design services for all of Jimmyjane’s in-house products. Products include the Little Something, Form 2, Form 3, Form 4, Form 6 and the Hello Touch.
This series of products has consistently received accolades and awards for its inventiveness, aesthetics and evolution in the adult toy market. Not just form, but function, quality and re-imagined ergonomic possibilities.
The difficulty of engineering something to vibrate, remain quiet AND not fall apart is not to be underestimated. Through custom fixturing and test equipment, Pinion and Jimmyjane optimized motors, weights and manufacturing processes to produce the highest vibration to size ratio on the market.
In addition, all Jimmyjane products must be waterproof and machine-washable. Standards beyond the usual IP requirements had to be met. With a focus on material, manufacturing process and part design, a robust series of products was achieved.
Design challenges included:
1) Waterproof, dishwasher safe design.
2) Noise reduction, quiet design.
3) Complex assemblies made more simple.
4) Maximize component placement in a pre-defined design.
5) Material processing – LIM, MIM.
